Dustin's addiction

Dustin grew a giant pumpkin this year, and he did fairly well. It got up to 373 pounds. Not too shabby. It takes lots of work. But it's lots of fun too. We were buying fertilizer every other week to feed the thing. I was cleaning out the shed a bit today and found Dustin's dirty little secret. Hahahahaha. The empty fertilizer boxes. And I'm pretty sure there were more that we had all ready tossed out. I love my Dustin guy. He's pretty awesome if I do say so myself. :)

Hoping

Last week, as I mentioned last week, Dustin found out he had the opportunity to take a few days off. We started his vacation on Wednesday. On Wednesday, we researched many things, mainly to do with tires. My car was in desperate need of a few things, tires included. The jeep was in need of a full size spare. We have 35 inch tires that are BFG Mud Terrains. They recently discontinued the tire we have, and came out with a new version Dustin doesn't like as much. Dustin was checking out KSL dot com and a guy put up just two of these tires for 200 dollars. That is quite a good price considering one tire is usually around 190 dollars. We just needed a spare, so this was a good thing. We also checked into my car getting various things: a full set of tires, an alignment, and anything else we have neglected lately. It's sad, because this is how Dustin's vacations usually go. He is so busy while he is working, that he spends a lot of time playing catch up with home stuff whenever he has time off. :P

Thursday, we ran around and took care of all the researched stuff from Wednesday. We started the day going to a junk yard to get a full size rim for my car, so we have a full size spare. From there we went to Ogies cafe for breakfast. I love that place. Yummy. After Ogies we went straight to Costco to get my tires checked out. We thought I only needed two new tires, but I needed four. Sucks. They were all wearing badly because I didn't get an alignment after Dustin replaced my struts a while back. Oh whale. Live and learn. We were at Costco forever, because we had to wait for my car to be done, so we looked around. We found a memory foam pillow top thingy for our bed for $158 and if you had a coupon it was 35 dollars off. We didn't have a coupon, but Dustin's Mom did, so she brought it to us. We dilly dalllied around the store waiting for them, and then she said that she could watch Miaya. (While we were walking around, Dustin got a hold of the jeep tire guy, so Dustin needed to go and get them in Roy. :P) So we went home to get Miaya's stuff together for an afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa. They spoil her. She was in desperate need of a nap, so they said she could nap over there. It seemed to work out well: Dustin and I would go and get the jeep tire, Miaya would stay at Ray and Rhea's for the afternoon. The jeep tire business was quick, after the 45 minute drive, and no nonsense. Thank goodness. We get back and Rhea (my mother in law) tells us that Miaya just barely fell asleep. It was like 3 pm! oh deer. Oh, and my car also needed an alignment and when they were trying to align it, they found out I had a bad tie rod. So frustrating. They were quick though.

All told, we spend a whole lot of money, we spent a whole lot of time, we spent a whole lot of energy. It was good to get it all done. I am hoping that after all this, the rest of the weekend goes well, and that we might even throw in a roadtrip to New Mexico for good measure. It's almost 2 in the afternoon, so we probably won't leave today. We'll have to see.

My Best Friend

I hopped in bed nice and early and was completely prepared to fall asleep....and then couldn't. Don't you hate when that happens? I do. But, there is a plus. My mind won't sleep, and so I have many fantastic epiphany's. My mind comes up with the coolest things right when I am falling asleep, or should be, and right before I wake up. The only thing that is sucky about it, though, is that I can't ever remember anything. At least I get to think about them in the first place, though.

So tonight, my thoughts turned to my best friend. He was already far away in sleepy land. As corny as it all may seem Dustin is my best friend. I remember before we started dating, we would "hang out" and it was loads of fun. We were friends before we were more. There was a point in our relationship that I was worried about getting more serious with him because I valued his friendship so much. (I thought if we didn't end up getting married, that things might turn out badly) Being friends first has been invaluable. Something that crossed my mind tonight was that he takes me as I am. There are things about me that bug him, I know I can be annoying. But he is so quintessentially good. He's sweet, funny, sexy, kind, caring, loving, self-sacrificing, respectful and respectable, honest, and lovely. Oh, and patient. Endlessly patient. :)He's not perfect, but who is? As I laid there, I was compiling a list of his many awesome traits. It was great. I know I don't tell him, or more importantly, show him, how much I appreciate him, nearly often enough. And so I will.

Like her Mother

Miaya was looking at this book before bed tonight:

Dustin walked by and he thought she said a guy was Dumbledore. So he asked her if the guy was Dumbledore and she proceeded to inform him in a stern voice "Not Dumbledore" and Dustin was like "Oh, alright..erm..." He said to me "What do you say to a two year old who just told you it wasn't Dumbledore?" hahahaha. What indeed? Dustin has gotten his head almost bitten off by our daughter, and she's only two. I can be that way, so I think she is quite alot like me.
Uh-oh.

Christmas-ized

Our blog is completely festive now. It will only last until Christmas, or so. My playlist is even a Christmas one, inspired by Miriam and Daniel's christmas playlist. I took the top picture laying under our Christmas tree. Dustin put lights all over it. I love it.

We watched Forbidden Kingdom on Friday night, and it was awesome! I loved it. Dustin didn't like it too much. Not much for the kung foo, I think.

It's snowing right now! For the first time in like a month! And it's supposed to snow really hard this coming weekend. Just in time for Miriam and Daniel. :)

Miaya has figured out how to open all the doors in the house. And lock them. (She's tall, so she can reach the front dead bolt too!) And unlock them. This morning, I took Moose out, and it was already snowing, so I figured Miaya would see that and not go out. She came outside and was walking around! I was yelling for her to go back inside, and she was just walking around. In her socks! In the snow and slush. And I'm yelling the whole time trying to get her to go in the house so she doesn't freeze to death. When I finally get to the back door, she's screaming, telling me her toes hurt. Poor booger.

Where you gonna put a tree that big, Griswold?

Honestly. We weren't going to get a real christmas tree this year, but then our neighbor said he could get us one. Dustin was all excited. Our neighbor works for the forest service, so he doesn't need a permit or anything, because they are always clearing trees and such. This is one of the trees they were getting rid of, and now it is ours. It takes up a quarter of the living room. Seriously.

Gun Cleaning Party

Since we are shooting tomorrow, and we didn't clean the guns last time, we cleaned them tonight. It's Adams first time cleaning his gun. :)

Dustin instructing Adam on how to take it apart and clean it.
Adam preparing to clean it. The smell of the solvent is so strong I can feel it in my throat. So gross.

Fina Freakin Lee

We have acquired the internet legitimately and so now we have it for a year at least. hahaha. Much has happened, but things are much the same. Lets see:

Dustin's job is doing well. He does a good job, and his boss likes him, the big contract folks like him, and the guys he works with like him, and he seems to be liking how things are going too. Obviously, not everyone is going to love you all the time, but as a whole, things are going well for Dustin at work.

With the economy not doing so well, it's a bit of a relief to live in Utah, where things go their own crazy way, for the most part. Jobs are available here. It doesn't seem, in my neighborhood, that many people are losing their homes. It probably helps that none of the houses are worth more than $200,000. Anyways.

Miaya is so big. She's going to be taller than me by the time she's five. Ten, tops. hahaha. She talks more than any two year old I know, and is incredibly cheeky. Her favorite things to say right now are "Be Quiet!" "Go Away!" "Let's sing" "Guess what?" among others. She is bossy too. haha. She's very sure, sometimes, of what she wants and will go to great lengths to get it. She loves the leaves right now, that are everywhere. She likes to run through them, and kick them around. She's a lot of fun to watch. She's very affectionate when she wants to be, and for that I am greatful. She loves Harry Potter (the movies), Finding Nemo, and Lilo and Stitch, the Jungle Book, and occasionally the Little Mermaid, when it comes to movies. She loves books, and Dustin's jeep stories at bedtime. Her favorite being about Danny's rollover. Go figure. She likes to type too. She wants to add something, so here she goes:

cfn bbryvvvvvvvvgfvgvv6

She can say her numbers, and knows what 2 is. She knows that letters are letters but doesn't know which name goes with which letter. She likes numbers and letters. Her hair is getting darker, so people comment on it all the time. It's annoying when people are like "Is she EVER going to get hair?!" and I want to smack them. hahahaha. Just because she has way more hair now than she has ever had. hahahahaha. It's dumb, I know. But she's doing really well too.

Me, I am in a good place. I went through and organized a large chunk of the house last week, and that has given me an excellent sense of well-being. Getting rid of stuff always does. :) And having a cleaner house too. I'm trying to get healthy, so I've been trying to walk and use my eliptical trainer and my yoga dvd, and every time I work out, I feel really good. It's just a matter of sticking with it, I suppose. I've got things I want to do and accomplish, and being healthy is one of those things. I am enjoyin being able to stay at home with Miaya. I feel so blessed to be able to. Our home is a happy and comfortable place for me and for my family, and others who come here. I like that.

I'm really excited at the possibility of having family members living closer. :D And worried, too, about those who will be so far away. But, that's the way it goes. I think I'm just rambling now. Enough for now.
