Our Pioneer Day weekend.

Have you ever noticed that Independence Day isn't called that very often? Every time someone mentioned it, they would say "Happy fourth" not Happy Independence day. And with Pioneer day, it's the same. "Happy twenty fourth". Interesting.

Anyway. It was warm, and quiet. I liked it.

We barbecued at Dustin's grandparents house. Dustin had to work late (we celebrated on the 23rd) so I went over with the girls and we ate and did fireworks.

These two pictures are of Dustin almost burning his hand off. His aunt and uncle brought sparklers for the kids, and none of them were interested in them, so Dustin said he would use them. He proceeded to take 3 boxes of them and lit them all at once. I would not recommend it. It burned his fingers and so he threw it towards the bucket of water we had on hand. It didn't make it. No one else was hurt.
Oh, and Miaya and Sarah wore matching outfits. hahahaha. It's the first time I've done it, and it was great. I didn't even take a picture of them together, though. Duh. Oh well.

Kennecott (AKA Rio Tinto) Copper Mine

We went to see the Kennecott Copper mine last week. I haven't ever been, and I've wanted to see it for years. It's quite huge. Massive. I liked going there. The trucks they use to haul things around are quite large too. We went there and saw their little movie and looked at old mining stuff, and the little museum they had there. It was fun. :) It made me feel quite small.

Good times.

My car is a piece of poop

It's true, you know.

So on Saturday, we decided we wanted to go and test drive a Jeep Liberty, because we are getting one soon. And too see how two car seats fit. What ended up happening on Saturday, however, was no test drive. Or anything fun. It was not a very good day. My car has been broken for the last two weekends. Dustin fixed it both times and it took a long time both times. I can't tell you how grateful I am that Dustin knows how to fix our cars. We would be so broke from all the mechanics fees otherwise. After spending the whole day fixing the car, he was pooped and in a bad mood. I was pooped and in a bad mod, just because. So Rhea and Ray graciously asked if they could bring us dinner, so we had a barbecue at our house. Rhea even did the dishes! How nice. So the day wasn't a total bust. And I got to take some great pictures of my little family. :)

We are selling the Jeep.  We were also going to spend Saturday getting it ready to be sold. I am sad about it, but we're getting the Liberty to replace it.We're getting rid of my car too. First sell the Jeep, then get the Liberty (the Diesel kind), then get rid of my car. I am pretty excited about a new vehicle. All I want is A/C and tinted windows.

So if you know anyone who wants a Jeep with lots of goodies, let me know. :)

Have a nice day.

More in depth

This is what we spent a lot of time doing those first weeks. Hanging out in my bed and new bedroom. It is a magical sanctuary, if I do say so myself.

So Sarah is an excellent sleeper. People give me dirty looks when I tell them that. It's true, though. I go to sleep for the night at about midnight and get up at around 8 and she wakes up once or twice to eat and might stay up for a little bit, but then she goes to sleep again. The hardest part of her day is around 10 pm. That's her fussy time, and it's difficult because that's my fussy time too. hahahahaha. I am one lucky girl, though. Our daughters are quite sweet. My husband is pretty rockin' too. I'm very blessed.

That first week, Dustin and Miaya had a daddy/daughter day. Dustin took her fishing. She had been begging to go fishing for a while, so they went. She caught this one and one jumped off her hook right when she was reeling it in.

And this is the outfit she chose to wear when we went to go and see Dustin's Grandma Baker. It was pretty warm outside, hence the nice and cool dress, but she insisted on wearing her snow boots. This crazy kid. I lub her.

Oh and the pic on the right is Sarah Lolie in the hospital. hehehehehe. She had no name when I took this pic. :D

Sarah's here!

Okay, so it's been a long while. Over a month. I had Sarah the day after that post. hahahahahaha.

The last few weeks have been good.
I had Sarah Lolie on June the 3rd at about 9:30 in the morning. All went pretty well. I had one complication right after I got my epidural, but other than that, it all went very well. Apparently I was a bit dehydrated, and in quite a bit of pain already, so when he gave me a shot of the fast acting epidural, it went through my system too quickly. When the body is dehydrated and in pain, the blood vessels constrict. I got really nauseous, and then threw up a bit, and my blood pressure dropped really fast and low. It went from normal to 95/60 something, and then the next time they took it I was only at 74/45. So I had to get another shot to make my blood pressure get back to normal. Then all went fine.

We finally got carpet in our new room right after Sarah was born, too, so we got to move into the new room. Mamma came on the second of June, just as was planned. Mamma flew in, we came home and made dinner, then went to Miaya's dance performance, and after that came home again. It was quite long. About 2 and a half hours! But it was fun, and I'm glad Miaya was able to be in it. At about 12:30 that night, my water broke and to the hospital we went. We got to come home after about a day and a half in the hospital. Things were tough that first week, but each week is easier and easier. Dustin got to stay home with us that whole first week.

We had Sarah blessed on the 27th of June, and almost everyone in the family was able to come. Maliana and Melanie are in Iceland, and Willie is in Iraq, so they were all unable to attend. Everyone else was here, though, and we had good times. :D Tuimana's birthday is the 26th and we went bowling. It was lots of fun.

Having the family all around was so good! I love the craziness and busyness of it all. It was sad to see everyone go. Mamma, Dad, and Henry left on the 27th as did Miriam, Daniel, Alexander, and Eva. Then Melisa, Tuimana, and Victoria left on the following Wednesday. And last but not least, Lete left early Sunday morning (the 4th). I was pretty bummed. But it was so much fun!

While Lete was here, we took her to the top of Butterfield Canyon where you can see down into the copper mine. You can see 7 (I think) temples from this spot. Provo(sometimes), Timpanogus, Draper, Oquirrh Hills, Jordan River, Salt Lake, and Bountiful. With binoculars, of course. ;)

Gosh, what a busy past month it has been. Sarah is so lovely. Miaya loves her little sister, and she's been such an excellent helper. She thinks she can change Sarah's diapers all by herself. hahahaha. She just puts the diaper tabs on, but she loves being involved. There are a lot of days that I wish I could just be Mamma and a wife, but those days are becoming less and less frequent. I figure once we get back into the swing of things, I'll be able to handle my responsibilities better. Right?

Anyway. That's what's been happening with us.
